When considering the situation in Guinea, the annual cost savings are even greater. As is widely known, Guinea is a well-known energy-scarce region — steam is entirely produced using imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) or heavy oil, pushing its cost to over RMB 300 per ton. Taking an alumina plant with an annual output of 1.2 million tons as an example: if calculated based on a steam price of RMB 300 per ton, the annual steam cost savings are as high as RMB 45 million.
