Aiming at the room for improvement in thermal efficiency and economic benefits during the evaporation of low-concentration mother liquor (caustic alkali concentration ≤ 215g/L), the R&D team conducted in-depth research and introduced the eight-effect evaporator. 

From a technical perspective, the design of the eight-effect evaporator is exquisite. In terms of thermal balance and temperature difference matching, it precisely controls the temperature difference of each effect within the range of 3-4°C by optimizing the temperature difference distribution. This design makes its effective temperature difference equivalent to that of the seven-effect evaporator under high-concentration working conditions. Jiuye Chemical has successfully implemented fourteen sets of high-concentration seven-effect evaporators, all of which operate stably and reliably. This also provides a strong guarantee for the stable operation of the eight-effect evaporator under low-concentration working conditions. Through thermal balance calculations, the eight-effect evaporator has no risk of insufficient thermal power under low-concentration working conditions and can operate smoothly.

Precise and scientific thermal balance calculations and the distribution of the area of each effect are the key technologies of the eight-effect evaporator. Referring to the operation of the high-concentration seven-effect evaporator group, even if problems occur in actual production, one effect can be isolated and the equipment can operate as a seven-effect evaporator group. The isolated effect can also serve as a backup effect, and the seven-effect evaporator group after isolation has a larger area and operates more reliably, almost achieving zero-risk operation. 

In terms of energy-saving benefits, the eight-effect evaporator performs remarkably. Taking an alumina plant with an annual output of 1.2 million tons and equipped with a 600t/h evaporator as an example, the thermal balance calculation results show that the steam-water ratio of the eight-effect evaporator group is approximately 0.03 lower than that of the seven-effect evaporator group, and the annual steam savings are about 150,000 tons. Calculated at the domestic steam price of 180 yuan per ton, the annual steam cost savings can reach as high as 27 million yuan. In regions with higher steam prices, such as Guinea, the annual steam cost savings can even reach 45 million yuan!
