Taking the Chinalco Guangxi Huasheng Alumina Project as an example, a comparison between its first and second phases clearly demonstrates the significant advantages brought by evaporative condensers. The first-phase project adopted traditional atmospheric condensers, which gradually revealed issues such as high energy consumption and substantial costs during long-term operation. In contrast, the second-phase project boldly introduced evaporative condensers for production equipment upgrading and transformation.
In terms of equipment configuration, the two sets of 500t/h evaporation units in the second phase each feature 20 evaporative condensers, arranged in a unique "back-to-back" and modular array pattern. This layout fully considers the operational characteristics of the equipment and space utilization efficiency, enabling more efficient collaborative operation among devices while achieving maximum space utilization.
In terms of operational data, the evaporative condensers adopted in the second-phase project have demonstrated (excellent) performance in energy conservation and consumption reduction. Compared with the first-phase project, the circulating water volume has been saved by approximately 43%. In the alumina production process, the consumption of circulating water is enormous, and the cost of water resources and treatment has always been a significant component of enterprise costs. Through its efficient water circulation and utilization system, the evaporative condenser has significantly reduced the amount of circulating water, not only saving enterprises substantial costs for water resource procurement but also reducing the pressure and expenses of wastewater treatment.
Electricity costs account for a considerable proportion of energy costs. Thanks to its advanced heat exchange technology and optimized operation design, the evaporative condenser has achieved a substantial reduction in power consumption, dropping from 1,728 kW·h/h in the first phase to 824 kW·h/h, with an annual electricity cost saving of up to 3.795 million yuan. For enterprises, this undoubtedly represents a huge cost saving.
In terms of costs, a **4.68 yuan reduction in cost per ton of alumina** may seem like a small figure, but for alumina enterprises with huge annual production volumes, it translates to millions or even tens of millions of yuan in annual cost savings. Additionally, the evaporative condenser solution reduces one-time investment by **2.081 million yuan** compared to the atmospheric condenser scheme, while cutting annual operating expenses by **9.14 million yuan**. Behind these figures lie tangible savings for enterprises and a significant expansion of profit margins.
For alumina companies, the evaporative condenser is more than just a piece of production equipment; it is a key factor in breaking through market competition. By helping enterprises reduce production costs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance market competitiveness, it enables them to gain a firm foothold in complex and volatile market environments and achieve sustainable development.
